The Australian government's national Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme is scheduled to start July 1 this year.
The scheme will be phased in across three years with, ultimately, over 700 companies being required to report on their greenhouse emissions and energy use.
The scheme is being introduced within tight deadlines, and consequently the final regulations for the scheme were only confirmed on the 24th June 2008.
